My mum’s neighbour passed away from widespread cancer. In her final days, my mum made her these smoothies – which were easy to drink and digest, yet super delicious.
Even on the days she could only drink part of the shake, her smile of delight as she tasted them lit up the room.
To make these you need a MagicBullet or NutriBullet blender, or of course a Vitamix or other high-powered blender would work well too.
Blueberry Chocolate Shake (Serves 2)
- Grate 4 pieces of Baker’s unsweetened cooking chocolate (or unsweetened cooking chocolate of your choice)
- 1 apple cut in small pieces
- 5 dates cut up in quarters
- 2 Celery Sticks sliced small
- 2 strawberries halved and a handful of blueberries.
- In Coffee Grinder: Grind 2 Tbsp. of each: Flax seed, Sunflower seeds, and slivered Almonds
- Divide ingredients between the 2 Magic Bullet tumblers, add water to fill each tumbler, then pulse
- Add 1 Tbsp Lemon juice and 1/8 Tsp. Stevia
- Adjust to desired tartness and/or sweetness
Orange Shake (Serves 2)
- One Orange, peel and cut up segments
- 4 Strawberries, cut in half
- 1 Apple cut in small chunks
- 2 Sticks Celery, sliced or diced
- In Coffee Grinder: grind 2 Tbsp each: Sunflower seeds, Pumpkin seeds, whole or slivered Almonds, and Flax seeds
- Divide all ingredients between the 2 Magic Bullet tumblers, and pulse each one
- Add water to fill each tumbler and pulse
- Add 1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice and 1/8 Tsp. Stevia
- Adjust to desired tartness and/or sweetness
Fennel Shake (Serves 2)
- Slice thinly 1″ x 2″ piece of Fennel bulb, or slice thinly 4 branches, trimming off fuzz
- 2 long Celery sticks sliced thinly
- 1 smallish carrot thinly sliced
- 1 apple cut in small chunks
- One orange with segments cut up
- 8 grapes cut in half
- In Coffee Grinder: Grind 14 Cashew nuts and 2 Tbsp. Flax seed
- Divide all ingredients between the two Magic Bullet tumblers and pulse
- Add 1 Tsp. Lemon juice and 1/8 Tsp. Stevia
- Adjust to desired tartness and/or sweetness
Veggie Shake (Serves 2)
- 1″x 2″ piece of Fennel bulb or 4 branches sliced thinly
- 2 long Celery sticks sliced thinly
- 1/2 any color Bell Pepper
- 2 leaves of Romaine lettuce
- 1 small cooked Beet, sliced (optional)
- Grind in Coffee Grinder: 12 Cashew nuts, 2 Tbsp. Sunflower Seeds, 2 Tbsp. Pumpkin Seeds, and 2 Tbsp. Flax seed
- Divide all ingredients between 2 Magic Bullet tumblers and pulse
- Add 1 Tsp Lemon Juice and 1/16 Tsp. Stevia
- Adjust to desired tartness and/or sweetness.
